New Series
Here's a shot of my newest woodcut series hanging in the New Wagner Gallery at SIUE as part of the BFA exhibition "On Display". These will be up until the 17, so go check them out! These prints have been an ongoing project throughout the semester and I'm really excited to have finally finished the series. Each print is a simple one-run woodblock. All but one are wiped intaglio style. I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful grain on the Shina plywood, the multiple colors you can achieve in one run through the intaglio wiping process, and still be able to carve a block.
Tonight was the BFA exhibition and there was a pretty good turnout! (There were also excellent cupcakes...and did I mention that my hair looked really good?) The show is full of awesome work from awesome people. Shout out to all my buddies who came to say hi and hear me and other folks talk about their pieces. You're the best!

BFA Exhibition
Yesterday I hung my work for the BFA show! It was really hard to condense this whole art school thing down to a few square feet, but I feel happy about the pieces I chose to show. The past couple weeks have been nothing but framing, matting and pulling final prints. It's been a great haul, but I'm glad for the breathing room again.
The opening night is Thursday December, 9 at 5pm. We will be starting at the gallery in the Morris University Center and working our way towards the Wagner Gallery in the Art & Design building. You should come and see me nervously talk about my bone obsession and try and coherently make sense of 3.5 years of work in five minutes. It will be great. There will be snacks afterward. COME!

exhibition
Time to share exciting news! Three of my prints got accepted into the annual Art St. Louis exhibition. I became a member only this semester and am excited to participate in the exhibition and learn some things via volunteering.
Come out to the opening! There will no doubt be awesome munchies, lots of cool work and and a good time being had by all.

Out and About
Unfortunately, I am going to be out of town when this exhibition opens, BUT I KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME! Look for my prints and perhaps some handmade crochet goodies!
There is also a student exhibition going on right now in the Morris University Center at SIUE (the gallery on the second floor). The show runs through April 1 and during that time viewers have a chance to vote on their favorite piece. A "People's Choice Award" of $1,000 will be awarded to the winner in the form of SIUE purchasing the work to display in the new Student Success Center. A print of mine, pictured below, is hanging in the show. I want to take this chance to HIGHLY ENCOURAGE all SIUE students to go and look at the show and cast your vote (and if you feel so inclined...). Regardless of who you vote for, your vote means a lot to the artists participating in the show and will be much appreciated. Ballots are located in the gallery entrance way.
"Growth"
The Annual Art Auction: Wagner Revisited hosted by Friends of Art is also coming up! The Auction takes place on Thursday April 8. The preview is a 6pm and the actual auction starts at 7pm. Admission is $5 but students, donors and FOA members get in for free. It is located in the Leclaire Room, Jay Hoffman Building
N.O. Nelson Campus for Lewis and Clark Community College in Edwardsville, IL (formerly called the Wagner Complex). Please follow the link above more more information about the auction and directions.I have donated a couple prints and am really looking forward to attending this event. It will be my first year participating and I've heard that it is a lot of fun! Friends of Art is a non for profit organization and all of the proceeds of their annual auction go directly back into a fund that supports the SIUE visiting artist program and student travel. Come out and mingle!
