Winter Break Craftiness

Today I made this! My tiny terrarium is about eight inches tall (I must say that I love all things petite). I'm rather proud of my resourcefulness for this project. I found the bottle in the bottom of our pantry and knew immediately that the corked cuteness had to be mine. For the tiny mushroom I chose white and cream acrylic yarns from my ever growing yarn bin. (The stem is supported by a hidden toothpick!) I had to borrow some potting soil from my mom because all of the dirt around here is covered in about four inches of snow and my impatient crafting self was not going to dig it out and wait for it to thaw; that would be utterly ridiculous. The rocks I grabbed from my adolescent pebble collection - there's more where that came from. So the only purchase was fake moss! Win!

I also crocheted my mom a tiny gingerbread woman, complete with removable apron and hair bow (So I'm playing up gender stereotypes - it looked too cute to say no.) She has been named Ginger. Last year I crocheted her a tiny Christmas tree, stuffed it with polyfill, and sewed on itty-bitty buttons for ornaments. I'd like to make this a tradition and make her something new (and petite!) each year.
