Tiny Figures

A lot of what I create can be lengthy or via indirect processes. I've found that sitting down with no thought or goals and just drawing is very rewarding and can also be really stress relieving! It is nice because it is such an unusual way of working for me. In printmaking, I can work on a block for a week at a time before I know what the end image even will print like.

I started drawing a series of figures. We obsess over labels, and I thought that the blank labels on these illustrations were kind of humorous. Some of them almost start to turn into something. I have so much fun experimenting with different color combinations and marker thicknesses. I've even thrown in a touch of very lightly applied colored pencil (gotta give a shout out to my Crayola twistables here).

Someone (I won't name any names here) had to pre-order Figure 12. It was custom designed and generated out of sequence, so it will not be a part of this series. I hope to continue to draw in this style and work on this series gradually in the weeks to come.
