preservation

I don't think I've ever logged as many hours on an intaglio plate as I did with this one. This print involved two shaped plates (got to work on my copper sawing skills), a surface roll and a la poupee wiping. I'm really pleased with how they have turned out, especially because I started working on this piece at the beginning of March. I took a break from it for a while when I was in Philadelphia at SGC, then again to work on some other projects. Needless to say, it is nice to finally see the culmination of these thoughts.

Here are the two plates wiped and ready for printing. The plate on the right was printed first and held only the color and tone for the items in the jar. Then I printed the plate on the left directly on top of it. This plate held the line etch detail for the aforementioned items, as well as the jar itself and a light aquatint for the preservatives.
