happy weekend!

Today was very rewarding. I wrapped up my last two printmaking pieces of the semester and got to listen to a wonderful talk by Kathleen Sanker, a photographer currently residing in St. Louis. I've worked extra hard this week to free up my weekend for all kinds of adventures, one of which involves the St. Louis Earth Day Festival in Forest Park. Brandon and I went last year and it was a lot of fun. Other plans include a visit to the Whispering Arch at Union Station, Vietnamese food, and playing in a dirt patch that is soon to be our garden.

To reward myself for all of my hard work, this evening I made lemon cupcakes with homemade vanilla frosting and almonds. I substituted regular milk for soy and vegetable oil for canola oil (I know my mother is probably cringing as she reads this) and crossed  my fingers that they would turn out...and they did! They're a little crispy around the edges and seem more muffin like to me, but I'm still very satisfied.

Hope everyone had a good earth day and is enjoying the wonderful Spring weather; stay tuned this weekend for peeks at new prints!
