Explorations in Time and Potato Dextrin

I have been working with Potato Dextrin in my textiles class. Potato Dextrin is a resist that is applied to fabric. When it dries, it cracks, providing an opening in which ink can be applied to capture the crackly pattern.

Time: Exponential Exploration examines the idea of wet and dry through the concept of time and space. Time is something that humanity has confined into a box. We understand it to move linearly and with a clear pattern. However, time is not a tangible, observable entity at all. My piece looks at time and space as an unpredictable pair. I wanted to create a window into a world of time that moves and grows exponentially, where we can see death and growth, activity and decay, density and emptiness all within the same being.
